Another Book Review - This one's For Mom!

If you've ever felt overwhelmed or like there isn't enough time in the day or like you're running on empty and wish there were at least 3 more of you to get everything done, I hear you! That's why I picked up Desparate Households by Kathy Peel when I saw it.
I found this book to be a refreshing read. Kathy writes in a way that's easy to understand. The book is broken up to make it easy to pick up and read a quick portion at a time (that's all the time I have for reading around here!). Kathy shares inspiring stories of people she has helped take charge of different areas of their lives. The book focuses on making the most of the time that we have by making wise choices. I got the copy that I read at my local library - it's definitely worth a read!

Weekly Book Review

The Wheels on the Bus by Mary-Alice Moore is one of Bubba's favorites from this past week's library trip. I have noticed that he really likes the books that have a sing-song rhythm to them and this one is perfect! You can actually sing it instead of just reading it!

The pictures are lively and colorful, giving little ones lots to look at while you read/sing. Our Bubba likes to point all the balls on the different pages. The bus starts off empty in the beginning but by the end of the book, when the bus makes it to school, it's a regular party as all the teachers bring their special flavor to the ride.

The Weekly Book Review

"You Are My I Love You" by Maryann Cusimano and Satomi Ichikawa is a cute, snuggly read with your toddler or preschooler. The illustrations are cute and engaging. I had to laugh at the bathtime page and the soaking wet stuffed toy - we've been there a few times! Our bubba loves baths and he loves his stuffed monkey so he can't see why the two of them might not love each other.
This book shows the steady, strong, warm comfort of a parent relating to the often wild, loud, busy adventure of a little one. As a parent, you will laugh at some of the contrasts because they are so true ("I am your bedtime; you are my wide awake")!

Book Review

I don’t know about your little one, but my Bubba loves books. It’s my plan to highlight on this blog some of the books that he seems to especially enjoy.

Bubba’s favorite books tend to be those with a catchy rhyming rhythm to them. A fun read that we recently found at the library is Elizabeth Garnton Scanlon’s “A Sock Is A Pocket For Your Toes”. This book has beautiful illustrations and walks through a day with several young children as they point out all the “pockets” they encounter. When we brought this book home, it was Bubba’s only request for several days. I think we both have to have had it memorized for how many times I read it!

Amazon has this book here.
